Studio71 Partners with Chef Matt Basile of Fidel Gastro and producer Kayla Zanardi

to Launch New 1500 Square Foot Food Studio for Online Video Creators

TORONTO, February 8, 2016Studio71, the multichannel network of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, today announced it has signed top Canadian influencers Sara Lynn Cauchon a.k.a. The Domestic Geek and Chef Matt Basile a.k.a. Fidel Gastro.  They are the first creators set to help Studio71 launch a new food-focused vertical and 1500 square foot kitchen production space to support and promote the creation of culinary content in Canada.

Since launching her YouTube channel, The Domestic Geek, in April 2014, Cauchon has earned more than 600,000 subscribers and over 35 million views.  Taking a fresh, fuss-free approach to healthy cooking, she has shared more than 300 original recipes, as well as countless tips and tricks for making life at home easier. Basile, the owner of Fidel Gastro, Toronto’s first street food experience company, operates one of Canada’s most recognizable food trucks and a street-food inspired cicchetti bar called Lisa Marie.  He is also the host of the reality show Rebel Without a Kitchen on Travel and Escape Channel, Cooking Channel and the Asian Food Channel.

Additionally, Studio71 has partnered with Basile and Kyla Zanardi, his producer and partner, to launch a new 1500 square foot kitchen production space that will be open to anyone—talent, cooks, food entrepreneurs and digital creators—looking to develop exciting and innovative digital food content.  Creators and producers will have full access to in-house equipment and props, custom-made sets specifically tailored to their brand/shoot, as well as expertise from staff who specialize in editing, video production, food photography and recipe development.

The announcement comes on the heels of the MCN’s recent rebranding as Studio71, which has gone from generating 1.2 billion views per month to 3.5 billion views per month and is on track to continue that growth rate in 2016.
